Cancellation Policy
At K&C Marine, we understand that unexpected changes or circumstances may arise that require our customers to cancel their scheduled appointments. To ensure smooth operations and maintain fairness for all parties involved, we have implemented a cancellation policy. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the following guidelines:
- If a customer cancels their appointment within the 48-hour timeframe prior to their scheduled appointment, a cancellation fee of $150 will apply.
- This policy applies only to appointments that are completely canceled and not rescheduled.
2. Rescheduling and Exemption from Cancellation Fee:
- To be eligible for the cancellation policy, customers must reschedule their appointment at the time they are calling.
- If the appointment is rescheduled, the cancellation fee will not be charged.
3. Timeframe and Weekend Exceptions:
- Please be aware that if the appointment is scheduled for Monday, customers have until 5 PM on the preceding Friday to cancel without incurring the cancellation fee.
- Weekends are not included in the cancellation timeframe.
We understand that circumstances can vary, and we strive to be flexible and accommodating to our customers' needs. However, it is important to note that last-minute cancellations can disrupt our schedule and hinder our ability to serve other customers effectively. The cancellation fee helps us cover the costs associated with these changes and ensures the availability of our services for other clients.
If you have any further questions or concerns regarding our cancellation policy, please feel free to contact us. We value your business and are here to assist you.
Parts & Refund Policy
1.Returns: Customers returning parts that were purchased without any error on the part of KC Marine, meaning the customer supplied the part number or the engine model number and the part was confirmed prior to ordering, can fall into two categories:
1.1 Standardized Parts: If it's a standardized part that we have on the shelf or can resell, the return can take place with a 25% restocking fee.
1.2 Special Order Returns: If the part is unusual and not a normally stocked part, please refer to our special order returns policy. If there was a mix-up or an error on behalf of KC Marine, the part should be refunded fully. Please note that this policy is only for returns and not for exchanges due to errors in part number, such as the wrong oil filter or fuel filter. Additionally, please be aware that used parts, previously installed parts, and damaged packaging cannot be accepted as returns.
2. Special Order Returns: Unfortunately, due to the nature of special orders, if the customer supplied the order number and/or incorrect engine information and the order was placed correctly, the part is non-returnable.
3. Electronic Parts: Please be aware that due to their nature and sensitivity, electronics such as engine ECMs, computers, controllers, and all other items falling into this electronics category are non-returnable. Please confirm the correct part number upon ordering and have the customer double-check before ordering any type of electronics, as they are non-returnable without exception.
4. Deposits: All non-stocked or special-ordered parts require a deposit of 75% prior to ordering.
5. Shipping: Please be aware that due to the nature of our business, shipping to Hawaii is billed based on actual calculation and not a percentage. Unfortunately, we have to receive the package prior to knowing the shipping cost. Customers must authorize expedited shipping via overnight or 2-day at the time of placing the order. Please note that we are not responsible for delays in shipping. As we are located in Hawaii, overnight shipping may take three days. This does not change the charge. The customer pays the shipping charge that we are invoiced. Currently, our vendors do not allow us to drop ship. All shipments must come to the island of Oahu and then be mailed to the customer. Due to logistical issues and resources, we are unable to use customer-supplied freight company accounts. However, we have a network of shippers with very reasonable rates that are already set up.
Warranty Work Policy
Warranty work is only carried out during K&C Marine business hours.
Any company or customer that needs warranty work done outside of business hours, holidays, or weekends is responsible for all additional charges outside of the warranty repair itself. Please understand that there are set warranty repair rates from the manufacturer and specific designated times.
The item being warranted has a set repair time based on the shop and environment. Please understand that manufacturers have designated a specific amount of time to carry out the repair under normal circumstances. The manufacturer does not cover situations where the item in question has been mounted in a difficult position, is hard to access, or requires the removal of other equipment. Any cost and time extensions for this type of work are the responsibility of the boat owner and/or boat builder and will be charged separately from the warranty repair.
All warranty parts must be supplied by K&C Marine in order to be warranted. The manufacturer requires the old part to be returned as evidence, along with the original invoice for the new part. This is why customer-supplied parts cannot be used for any type of warranty repair.
The customer is responsible for all portions of the repair if the warranty is not valid. K&C Marine is not responsible for maintaining and verifying the warranty of an item. If the manufacturer refuses the warranty repair for any reason, the owner or company is responsible for the outstanding invoice and parts.
There is no guarantee on scheduling for warranty work. Customers are able to request emergency service at an additional fee that will not be covered under warranty. K&C Marine is not responsible for downtime, loss of wages, or damages caused by or in relation to the warranty repair.
Customers needing outer island warranty work should be aware that manufacturers do not cover travel to and from the vessel. This responsibility falls on the boat owner.
Mobile Service Fee Policy
Effective September 1, 2024, K&C Marines' Mobile Service Fee program has been modified. We understand that providing mobile services incurs additional expenses beyond those associated with our shop-based operations. To ensure transparency and fairness, we have revised our policy to reflect these costs. Please see below for the detailed changes:
1. Mobile Service Fee:
- In the past, we charged a $175 mobile service fee for any work conducted outside of our shop premises. This fee encompassed various expenses related to maintaining our mobility, including vehicle costs, maintenance, gas, insurance, and other logistical requirements.
- However, we have reviewed our pricing structure and are pleased to announce that we have made adjustments to better align with the actual expenses incurred. As a result, we have replaced the previous mobile service fee with a $50 mobile surcharge.
- All mobile services not carried out at the shop will now incur this $50 surcharge, which is intended to cover the additional costs associated with providing convenient services at your location.
- Please note that labor is no longer included in the mobile service fee. For further clarification, refer to our labor policy.
2. Distance-Based Fee:
- We understand that geographical distance can affect service charges in many industries. However, in our commitment to providing consistent and reliable service to all our customers on Oahu, we have decided not to base the mobile service fee on distance within the island.
- Regardless of your location on Oahu, the mobile service fee remains the same, ensuring fairness and equal access to our services.
3. Outer Island Services:
- For customers on outer islands, we have a separate policy in place to address the unique logistical challenges involved. Please refer to our outer island policy for specific pricing details.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with these changes. Our goal is to provide exceptional service while ensuring transparency and fairness in our pricing. If you have any questions or require further information, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you for choosing K&C Marines for your boat work needs.
Late Fees & Collections Policy
Unless previously noted with a customer in writing or a contract is in place, all customer payments are due upon receipt. K&C Marine does offer a 10 day grace period from the time the invoice is sent by email or text message until a late fee is applied.
Our current Late fee rates are as Follows:
Invoices With Total Amount Due Under $5,000
11th day $75.00 fee
15th day $150.00 fee
20th day $300.00 fee
25th day $350.00 fee
After 30 Days a $500.00 Collections fee will be added onto Invoice
After 31 days a late fee of $1500 will be added per month after 90 day account will be sent to outside collections.
Invoices With Total Amount Due Over $5,000
11th day 10% fee
15th day 10% fee
20th day 10% fee
25th day 10% fee
After 30 Days a $500.00 Collections fee will be added onto Invoice
After 31 days a late fee of $2500 will be added per month after 90 day account will be sent to outside collections.
It is the customer's responsibility to contact us to discuss their bill and review any discrepancies they may feel they have. If a customer has not contacted us, the late fees will stand on the bill. Even if the discrepancy is deemed to be actual and reversed, the late fees will only be based on the portion of the bill without the discrepancy.
It is the responsibility of the customer to contact K&C Marine and pay their invoice. All customer accounts are due upon receipt of the invoice. We do not offer terms.
Customers have ten calendar days from the time they received their invoice to call about any billing discrepancies. Please allow 48 hours after sending the discrepancy by email for an appropriate response. Any discrepancies that are not discussed within 14 calendar days following the invoice being sent are no longer eligible for changes.
After 31 calendar days, all invoices that have not been paid will be sent to collections and become the responsibility of the person or company that had the service done. K&C Marine retains the right to keep collections in-house.
Labor Policy: Shop to Shop Travel Labor Policy (Shop to Shop)
At K&C Marine, we want to ensure transparency and provide clear information to our valued customers. This policy explains our travel labor practices for mobile services, known as "Shop to Shop."
When you schedule a mobile service with us, our technicians follow the following process:
1. Clocking In: Our technician will begin tracking their working hours from the moment they start packing the vehicle with materials for your job.
2. Travel Time: The time our technician spends traveling from our shop to your location is considered part of their working hours. Please note that this can be affected by unforeseen factors such as traffic, accidents, and other factors beyond our control.
3. On-Site Labor: Once our technician arrives at your location, regular labor practices apply. The time spent on the job site, including setup, repairs, or installations, will be tracked according to our existing labor policies.
4. Return Travel: After completing the job, our technician will return to our shop. The time spent traveling back to the shop is also considered part of their working hours.
5. Unloading and Restocking: Upon returning to the shop, our technician will unload any remaining materials from the vehicle and return them to the appropriate shelves. The time spent on this activity is included in their working hours.
Please note that all jobs have a minimum duration of one hour.
We want to assure you that our travel labor policy is designed to ensure accurate tracking of our technician's time and to provide you with the best service possible. By following this policy, we can maintain transparency and accountability in our operations.
If you have any questions or need further clarification regarding our Shop to Shop travel labor policy, please don't hesitate to contact us. We value your business and are here to assist you.
Emergency & After Hours Policy
Emergency and After Hours Policy: After hours, which is defined as anytime after 5 PM Monday through Friday, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday, is a time period in which our services are available for emergency and after-hours assistance. During this time, we understand that urgent situations may arise, and our dedicated team of technicians is ready to respond promptly and efficiently to address any critical issues that may occur outside of our regular business hours.
After hours is defined as anytime after 5 PM Monday through Friday, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday. A holiday is deemed as any national or state holiday being observed.
Emergency Call Out Fee: $400 + Standard Labor (Business Hours)
Holiday or After Hours Call Out Fee: $550 + Labor X 1.5 (due to overtime)
Please note that either the emergency call out fee or the holiday/after hours service fee must be paid before a technician is dispatched. It's important to understand that this fee covers the service call or diagnostic, but it does not guarantee a fix while the technician is on-site. Due to the short notice of these service calls, not all parts may be readily available.
Additionally, please be aware that the availability of parts may be limited during emergency or after hours service. In such cases, every effort will be made to obtain the necessary parts as quickly as possible. However, it is important to understand that there may be delays in obtaining specific parts during these timeframes.
Customer Supplied Parts Policy
At K&C Marine, we strive to provide the highest quality service and ensure a smooth and efficient experience for our customers. To maintain our standards and avoid potential complications, we have implemented a Customer Supplied Parts Policy. Please review the policy details below:
1. No Customer Supplied Parts:
- We regret to inform you that we do not allow customers to supply their own parts for any services rendered by K&C Marine. This policy has been established based on past experiences, where we encountered issues such as incorrect parts and wasted time during appointments.
2. Importance of Proper Preparation:
- Our team relies on thorough preparation to complete jobs effectively and efficiently. Having the parts in hand before starting a job allows us to review and ensure that all necessary components are available. This helps us deliver the highest level of service and minimizes the risk of delays or incomplete work.
3. Warranty Limitations for Customer Supplied Parts:
- In the event that a customer insists on providing their own parts, we will proceed with the understanding that the installation of such parts will not be covered by our standard warranty.
- If a customer-supplied part fails or malfunctions, we will be unable to provide warranty coverage for the labor associated with its installation. This is because we do not have direct access to the vendor and cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of the supplied part.
4. Responsibility for Service Time:
- If a customer insists on supplying their own part and it is found to be incorrect or incompatible, resulting in the inability to carry out the intended service, the customer will still be responsible for the estimated time of the service that was scheduled.
- This means that even if the service cannot be performed due to the customer-supplied part, the customer will be charged for the estimated time that was allocated for the service.
We understand that some customers may prefer to supply their own parts for various reasons. However, our primary concern is ensuring the utmost satisfaction and reliability in the services we provide. By adhering to this policy, we can maintain the highest standards of quality and deliver consistent results for all our valued customers.
If you have any questions or require further clarification regarding our Customer Supplied Parts Policy, please do not hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in upholding this policy. Thank you for choosing K&C Marine for your boat service needs.
Outer Island Travel Policy
1. Outer Island Service: Outer Island service requires a minimum of eight hours per day. Due to airport wait times, securing car rentals, carrying out the service, returning to the airport, and flying back to our home base of operation, the service occupies the technician for an entire workday. This is calculated at an eight-hour time period. Therefore, the company or person requesting the service agrees to a minimum of eight hours per day for travel days.
2. Travel Expenses: All travel expenses, including flights, car rentals, gas, and hotel accommodations, are the responsibility of the person or company that has requested the service. We do allow for multiple people to share these expenses. When booking your service on Outer Island, please let us know if you want to coordinate your service with other people, and we will calculate and split the travel costs equally.
3. Technician Accommodations: Due to the safety of our technicians and customers, our policy is that we cannot stay at a customer's house. However, we can utilize their car and/or driving service. We understand that this may cause inconvenience, but we handle all of our own travel plans and transportation in-house.
4. Minimum Eight-Hour Days: Please be aware that the minimum eight-hour days apply to travel days. A travel day is a day when we are traveling to or from Oahu, and sometimes this occurs all in one day.
5. Non-Travel Days: On non-travel days, there is no minimum hour requirement. The technician will clock in when they leave their hotel and clock out when they return, if it is an overnight stay.
6. Additional Fees: Customers will be billed for any fees charged by the airline to bring parts or products over that must be checked. Please be aware that all hazardous items or large items must be prearranged and shipped via Young Brothers, and the customer will be responsible for paying those charges.

The arbitrator's award shall be final, and judgment may be entered upon it in any court having jurisdiction. The parties agree to arbitrate all disputes and claims in regards to these Terms and Conditions or any disputes arising as a result of these Terms and Conditions, whether directly or indirectly, including Tort claims that are a result of these Terms and Conditions. Further, unless both you and K&C Marine agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims, and may not otherwise preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding.
